Forest Days at the Greenwich Botanical Center is an all-weather, outdoor preschool enrichment program

What is Forest Days?

Forest Days at the Greenwich Botanical Center is an all-weather, outdoor preschool enrichment program with 3 different offerings designed to encourage children ages 3 1/2 through 6 years to grow socially, emotionally, and physically through interest-led play and natural exploration while developing a deep appreciation and respect for nature.

Explore with Me

Forest Days Explore with Me is an all-weather outdoor enrichment program for children 12 - 36 months and their caregivers. This offering is designed to encourage young children, with the help of their parent or caregiver, to experience nature via circle time, walks, outdoor sensory play, songs and forest exploration. Explore with Me meets at 9:30 and 10:30 Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for 45 minutes.

Little Rangers

Forest Days Little Rangers is an afternoon all-weather, outdoor preschool enrichment program designed for unaccompanied children ages 3 1/2 through 5 years that meets on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 12:15 – 2:45. While our instructors prepare themes and materials to introduce children to the wonders of nature, our schedule flows organically from what our woodland environment presents each day. Outdoor nature play during Little Rangers develops observation skills, problem solving, logic and reasoning skills and encourages taking appropriate risks. Activities include creating secret habitats, making forest stew, observing critters in their natural environments, going on nature walks, singing, art and free play.

Afternoon Adventurers

Forest Days Afternoon Adventurers is an immersive outdoor education program for children in Kindergarten and First Grade that meets on Tuesday or Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:00. Building on the approach of Little Rangers and Explore with Me, children will spend the afternoon exploring and playing in the woods, learning about nature’s interactions, the different ways people interact with nature, how to observe and use our senses, to identify trees, animals, birds, plants and seeds and basic outdoor skills such as map and compass reading.
