Please confirm with us that your school is participating again by emailing gyff@greenwichbotanicalcenter.org.

Thank you for your participation, support, and enthusiasm for the Eighth Annual Greenwich Youth Film Festival. GYFF is supported by our community partners Greenwich Library, Greenwich Arts Council, and The Avon Film Center Theatre. Each non-profit organization helps play a role in this festival’s vital growth. As you may know, The Junior League of Greenwich successfully launched this project in 2011-12 transitioning it to the community in 2016.

We considered feedback from last year, and have great news to share:

Judging aligns with specific academic criteria: The GYFF is a part of the Fairchild Challenge at GBC.

Participants are part of an award-winning, interdisciplinary, environmental science competition. The Fairchild Challenge has been recognized as a benchmark for exceptional STEM education and for empowering students to become the next generation of scientists, researchers, educated voters, policy makers, and environmentally-minded citizens. Film-making is a form of local environmental activism. It is a method for visual storytelling utilizing media tools.

Range of reach has grown: We reach out regionally throughout Fairfield, Westchester and adjoining counties. We communicate with multiple community partners to expand the breadth of GYFF touching under-served students as well as those engaged already in film-making programs. The Town of Greenwich Conservation Commission and GPS PTAC Green Schools support the initiative. Faculty Advisers have stepped up as well.

Our teachers and students can build credibility: We reach out to over 100 schools and share cutting-edge film-making, media, and entertainment resources from multiple industry experts relevant to students considering further study or engagement with the broad array of jobs in the media and entertainment fields.

GYFF 2019 Films are accepted in the following genres:

    Social/Environmental Action | Creative | Documentary | Animation | Experimental

$10 Registration for film submissions can be done immediately. (Scholarships available as needed: please email gyff@greenwichbotanicalcenter.org to request.)
