The goal of this field trip is to get students EXCITED about art, specifically art inspired by the natural world! Students will have the opportunity to create art outdoors with different media such as colored pencils and watercolors. They will have the chance to explore large landscape scenes, as well as small natural object elements. Students will also be invited to visit the exhibit in our art gallery, reflect on the art therein and gallery etiquette, and experience a short lecture on the history of the surrounding Pinetum, Pomerance and Tuchman properties. This visit will incorporate art, history, and observation of the natural world.  

Note: This trip can pivot indoors in the event of highly inclement weather. There is also an option for extending the trip for 30 minutes and students can enjoy lunch outdoors.

Students will compare and contrast the purposes of art museums, art galleries, and other venues, as well as the types of personal experiences they provide.

• Describe different visual effects created by various media and techniques. 
• Use appropriate art vocabulary to analyze works of art.  
• Demonstrate analysis and criticism skills when visiting an art museum or gallery.
