In this class, children will participate in weekly guided art projects; learning about new materials each session through hands-on art making and exploratory-based creative play. Lessons start with a guided, seasonally-based field trip amongst the Botanical Center grounds; where children will be introduced to the day’s lesson theme while out in the field – discovering and gathering both inspiration and materials from their outing. A corresponding creative project will follow, where a variety of artistic and sensory-engaging materials will be used, such as: paint, paper mâché, glue, collage, sculpture and building – helping the children to discover an artistic repertoire as well as build an appreciation for their surroundings and the natural world. This is very much a process-focused class where children are encouraged to get outside, play, explore, experiment, create and have fun!
This is a drop off class.
