Artist's Statement: Cinzia Meneghello: Enchanted Greenwich celebrates Connecticut's natural beauty, reimagining it as a luminous ecosystem blooming with vibrant organic forms, fairytale beings, and symbolic motifs. From abstract florals to whimsical illustrations and intricate, multi-layered large fantasy paintings, each piece reveals nature as a space where wonder
and imagination flourish, and where the sacred, the joyful, and the magical harmoniously coexist.
Rooted in her deep connection to the local flora and fauna, the artist distills botanical and animal forms into expressive colors and textures. Evocative figures often emerge from ethereal, semi-abstracted landscapes, glowing in dreamy hues delicately accented by gold and ivory lights. Created largely on paper, these works combine an impressive array of media such as watercolors, gouache, inks, carved textured grounds, pastels, oils, graphite, acrylics, tempera, as well as natural materials such as petals and leaves, making the paintings feel as tactile and alive as the environments that inspired them.
“My art practice is guided by a strong interest in the healing and contemplative qualities of art, from the cathartic effect of viewing art to the reflective process of artmaking itself. My inspiration comes from prolonged sessions of prayer and meditation as well as from the sights and sounds I encounter in my daily walks in nature. Through my paintings I strive to unveil the sacred all around us, in seemingly ordinary places, animals, and people. My goal is to capture the universal essence and interdependence of our inner stories. I hope to inspire viewers by offering glimpses of harmony and beauty, stillness and play, the divine and the human.”
