About Greta Corens:
Greta Corens was a sought-after fashion designer in New York City before dedicating herself fully to painting. Trained in Architecture and Design at the St. Lucas Institute in Brussels and in Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Art in Antwerp, she brings architectural discipline and cultivated elegance to her watercolor practice. During her formative years, a beloved teacher introduced her to the baroque splendor of Dutch Golden Age flower paintings. Their structured opulence and psychological depth left a lasting imprint. In Corens’ own floral watercolors, this influence reemerges—not as imitation, but as an internalized language of light, compositional authority, and restrained grandeur.
Her roses and irises are not decorative subjects; they are sovereign forms. Painted with disciplined luminosity and structural precision, they reveal vitality, imperfection, and the quiet drama of the life cycle. Watercolor, in her hands, is not delicate—it is controlled light. Corens has exhibited widely in New York and Connecticut, has received numerous awards, and continues to teach discipline-based watercolor master classes in the region.
